THE WHITE ISSUE

DV1 focuses on the issues of WHITE in social context. How white as a color is pristine and clean but can be dirtied through our belief systems and the way society lives. Those with a creative eye will surely appreciate its aesthetic beauty juxtaposed against contentious issues. Here to inspire, incite and stimulate, DV1 marries beauty and disdain melodically.

THE MISSION

Conceived by Steve Pandolfi, President of dcc, DV is unencumbered with typical client and budget limitations. “DV was produced purely for the sake of inspiration. It exists to showcase the design work of Jonathan Gouthier, photography of Peter Hapak and dcc’s production capabilities. Tied together with the theme of social consciousness, we are thrilled with the reaction to our introductory issue.”

THE ARTIST

We’ve asked some of New York’s most accomplished visual storytellers to explore and document who, what, where, and how the people of New York live after dark.

Peter Hapak, the featured photographer for the introductory issue of DV, was chosen for his breathtaking work and ability to formulate relevant and critical photographs for the subject matter. Peter was born in Hungary and raised in a family of photographers. He currently resides in New York City and regularly shoots for New York Times Magazine, The New Yorker, Men’s Health and Parallel.

THE EVENT

The DV1 event was held at F/ocus Studios in Manhattan

Hosted at F/ocus Studios in New York City on February 12, 2008, A white winter scene welcomed guests as they were met with oversized portraits of Peter Hapak’s photography. Each guest received their personal copy of DV. The audience reaction to DV was expected—they were blown away.
